Filed Under Working with Emerging Leaders | Leave a Comment
A couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to meet with a group of consultants from Hodge Cramer & Associates, Inc. in OH about using social media as a fundraising tool. It was a great to meet with so many enthusiastic individuals and reminded me about the diversity of experiences individuals have with web 2.0 technology.
I continue to believe that using web 2.0/social media tools for nonprofits is critical at this time. I have seen and participated in organizations that have demonstrated great success in communications, outreach, and fundraising with limited budgets primarily because of these tools. My colleague, Heather Carpenter, recently posted on her blog a fantastic list of next gen or emerging leaders in the nonprofit sector. Her post was in response to the NP Times list of nonprofit leaders. To see Heather’s list, visit her blog. It has inspired me to follow her lead and recognize other, wonderful next gen leaders with whom I have had the opportunity to work.
There are countless next gen leaders and activists around the country who are doing amazing work in the sector and I thought I would highlight some of the people I have had the pleasure and privilege to get to know. To me, these individuals have displayed a great deal of leadership qualities and actions regardless of whether or not their title implies it. They are creative innovators who know how to get things done and set an example no matter what their obstacles may be. They have inspired me in some way or another to be a better leader showed by skills to reach for that goal (in alphabetical order). Read More
